Dr. Arshiya Lokhandwala specializes in a private art consultancy specializing in modern and contemporary South Asian Art. With over 25 years of experience as a gallerist, curator, and art historian. She has, exhibited and showcased some of the best artists from the region, providing a deep insight into their historical background and selecting some of the important works for clients. She is closely linked to the art market, prices, art galleries, auction houses, and artists. She is a specialist in Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art.

 

While curating After Midnight: Indian Modernism to Contemporary India 1947/ 1997 (2015), at the Queens Museum she undertook extensive research on the Progressive Artist group (PAG), having known most of them personally and also having showcased their work. These include – M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza, Krishen Khanna, V.S. Gaitonde, Tyeb Mehta, Ramkumar and Akbar Padamsee.

 

Dr. Lokhandwala is an active participant in the contemporary scene and has exhibited, curated, organized talks, delivered lectures, and taught South Asian Art history. Dr. Lokhandwala serves as a one-point contact as an art advisory to individual collectors, corporations, and hotels, and interior designers and architects. Especially being an accomplished curator she is able to offer discerning advice as to the choice of the works and artists.

What’s the Process? 

 

1. The Brief: We discuss in detail the needs of the client, spend time to understand the client’s preference in terms of aesthetic, sizes, and prices and then shortlist the most suitable works and artist list.

2. Art historical Research: If the client is building an art collection, detailed acquisition strategy with in-depth research with a long-term view on acquisitions is offered including details on prices. An honest and unbiased opinion will be shared regards the works so the final section of works is satisfactory to the clients ensuring the works will continue to attain significant value in the future.

3. Sourcing: The best works are sourced from the market or directly from artist’s good prices with full transparency. All works are accompanied with certificates of authenticity.

4. Shipping and hanging the works: Shipping of the works in India and abroad, reframing, insurance, restoration, including installation and hanging of the works, can be arranged.
